The Madenokoji family (万里小路家)
The Madenokoji family were kuge (court nobles) with kakaku (family status) of meike (the fourth highest status for court nobles). They were from the Kajuji line of the Northern House of the Fujiwara clan. Its kamon (family crest) is Take ni suzume (bamboo and sparrow). Karoku (hereditary stipend) in the Edo Period was 390 koku (approx. 70.4 cubic meters).

Establishment
This family was founded during the middle of the Kamakura Period by Sukemichi MADENOKOJI, the fourth son of FUJIWARA no Suketsune (Suketsune KANROJI, Suketsune YOSHIDA).
End of the Kamakura Period
Nobufusa MADENOKOJI and Fujifusa MADENOKOJI played active role in the Kenmu Restoration as trusted vassals of Emperor Godaigo.
From the end of the Edo period to the Meiji period
After the Meiji Restoration, the peerage of count was conferred on Michifusa MADENOKOJI and he served as a jiju (a chamberlain) and a member of Kizokuin (the House of Peers).
